REP-0004: Warning: Unable to open user preference file

Symptoms:

Concurrent request logfiles have the below error:

REP-0004: Warning: Unable to open user preference file

 

Cause:

The prefs.ora is either missing or non-accessible.

 

Solution:

1. No prefs.ora file in HOME directory:

Oracle Reports will look into the user's HOME directory for the prefs.ora preferences file.  If a prefs.ora file does not exist in your HOME directory, you can copy the prefs.ora file that came with the Oracle Tools.

ADOP Prepare phase fails while cloning Run Context file to refresh Patch context file

Issue:

While running adop phase=prepare, it fails on one node while trying to clone Run Context file to refresh Patch context file.

Error:

It fails with the following error in the ADOP Session.
ADOP prepare phase fails with [UNEXPECTED] occurred during CONFIG_CLONE Patch File System from Run File System

The log file has the following error:

ERROR: Could not clone the Run context file due to the following exception:
AC-00005: No write permissions for creating the Context file - /tmp/temp.xml
Raised by oracle.apps.ad.context.AppsContext
ERROR: Failed to clone Run Context file to refresh Patch context file

Re-link fails on target "jox_refresh_knlopt ioracle" while applying OJVM PATCH SET UPDATE on Exadata

Issue:

While applying the OJVM patch on Exadata, the patch application fails on relinking.

Error:

OPatch failed: ApplySession failed in system modification phase... 'ApplySession::apply failed: Re-link fails on target "jox_refresh_knlopt ioracle".

OJVM Patch Installation:

Go to the patch directory.

ORACLE error 20100 in FDPSTP

Error :

ORACLE error 20100 in FDPSTP
FDPSTP failed due to ORA-20100: ORA-20100: Temporary file creation for FND_FILE failed.
Directory &FILE_DIR is invalid, contact your system administrator.

Action:

Check that the directory is a valid directory with wri06-APR-2016 14:48:29

Cause:

The concurrent program was unable to write to the specified temporary file because the virtual path assigned to the APPLPTMP environment variable is not referenced in the UTL_FILE_DIR
